Chapter 2: Connected Educator

In my future profession as a Business Management major, there are certain communities and components that play a big part in the success of the job position and well as many other types of jobs. Examples of these are emerging technologies, connected learning communities, personal learning networks, and professional learning communities. If I were to switch my major to nursing or pursue a career in dentistry, these would also go hand in hand. We must be connected, collaborate, and share our knowledge. 

Chapter two explained, if I were continuing in the Business Management field, it is important to keep connected learning communities which can be broken down in three ways. Face-to-face connection, diversity, and recognizing need for deep connections. Especially in this field, shared leadership is important and to have a common language so there is an understanding. Business is all about working together toward common goals, beliefs, and visions. Sometimes there are problems that need to be solved so these communities need diversity and commitment. 

Professional learning communities are for improvement, leadership, and reform. Being a professional in these communities requires being able to divide leadership and decision making which may also include some risks. Business management majors need to be able to work collaboratively and connect with partners or employees. Along with being professional, business associates must create communities of practice. These communities are people with a common interest but, they join forces to learn and pursue interest even more. 

Personal learning networks are similar to professional learning communities because they each require gathering information and sharing resources. The difference is that personal learning networks are self-directed and are independent. One way we can strive for improvement is networking in our personal area. Networking has many distinctive benefits. This can help boost your energy and your personal growth. This can create confidence and self-assurance. Networking is a true connection which requires individual practice. In the business field you meet many people and have to learn how to communicate properly and professionally while working in teams.
