Chapter 4:
The discussion behind Chapter 4 is how we can build a collaborative culture. Relationships are a crucial part of collaboration. Two people come together and are "connected" while learning from each other. In these relationships, it is important to establish trust. You can show that you are trustworthy by maintaining transparent and showing all your actions are for the good, right reasons. This is also a big part of how to maintain a good network environment. This trust enables you to receive criticism from certain friends who feel comfortable delivering this feedback. This is crucial in a business because if you don't criticize your business, it will not get better. In a group, you must have a shared vision. A group that will succeed has common aspirations and goals.
There are also certain stages of collaboration which are forming, storming, norming, and performing. Forming is when your team is in the process of getting to know each other. Storming is when the excitement of meeting wears off and then people start to bicker and disagree. Norming is when the team develops behaviors about how they will operate together as a group. At this point the team powers through and works as a team. The last stage is performing. Performing means that the culture is established and each teammate can be a critical friend to other teammates. In the business field, each of these steps is very important to remember so you can power through as a strong team and perform to the best of your ability.
