Indeed Job Search - Smackdown

Indeed Job Search is a great app for whether you are looking for a job or a business looking to post a job that needs to be filled. This app narrows your search for exactly what you are looking for. It allows corporations to post jobs in a particular category as well. Jobs that you may be interested in are sent to your email based on the parameters you set. The resume on each profile can help you immediately apply for a job or allow employers to find you!

If I become a manager this is a great way to look for people who are the best for the job. If I put a job on Indeed, I could look through the resumes and see if I wanted to interview specific people in person and which candidate is the best hire. I feel this will be the most efficient way to hire in the future. As an employer, I would give the most information possible in the job description so the candidate can clearly understand what is expected of them in the job.

Chapter 5:

Chapter 5 tells us all about tools for documenting and archiving learning, connecting and collaborating, for social networking, and extending learning in the classroom.

Tools for documenting and archiving learning is social bookmarking. This is an easy way to be efficient and categorize the content you want and need. These bookmarks can be shared by the people in your network of connected learners. This is for personal and social use. This can be used in business management because people can see what the manager is looking at and keep people's knowledge updated without telling them to do so.


Tools for connected learning and collaborating are blogs, RSS readers,podcasts, microblogs, and wikis. Blogs are arranged in chronological order and provide a sense of ideas, experiences, and information from the writers. The readers can gain insightful information from these blogs. I think in the business field this might be useful to workers. Not everything comes directly from the top manager so it may be interesting what it would be like to use blogs in this atmosphere. Same goes for microblogs which allows you to share information quickly and efficiently. This is like twitter, short blurbs of information. Podcasts are audio content where people can listen instead of read. Wikis are web pages, such as google documents, that allows a group to work collaboratively by planning and coordinating projects. This could be helpful for business projects. 



Tools for extending learning in the classroom are things such a videos for your online community and real-time updates. All of these tools require you to manage a reputation online. You leave a digital footprint wherever you go online. It is important to be professional at all times, share insights, and track yourself, meaning managing the way you are perceived online. If I am a business manager, I want to stay professional at all times and provide an online presence that is acceptable and positive.

Chapter 6:

This chapter is about your personal learning network. We must start this by deciding who to follow, vetting before we follow, and using social bookmarking. To build your network, it is important to start with people you trust and familiar people that are well respected. In the business world, it is extremely crucial to partner and network with people you trust. This networking builds the community you will be in and it is important to keep it healthy. The community must have a clear purpose, meet members' needs, have culture, and share concern and support. 

Each member of the community has a role. The four different roles, according to David Lee are linking, lurking, learning, and leading. Each of these is can be applied to the business field. Linking where people can join the community which is important to keep people connected and updated. Lurking which means there are people that watch from the "sidelines". This could be good for any business so people can really see the business from a different perceptive. Learning in the community creates constant improvement. Lastly, leading is the most important of the four, I believe, because a business truly thrives under good leadership. "Good" leaders are the people who put in time, effort, and understand the best way to deal with the company.

Communities are always evolving. The best quality to any business is their sense of culture. We should design our businesses for this constant evolution and loose governance. The reasoning behind the loose governance is to find the culture in the working community. This will create a smooth and comfortable experience. Lastly, to prosper, you must bring other voices in to share and build trust in any interaction. Face-to-face environments can open many possibilities for the future. No matter who the conversation is with, it may be monumental.
