Social Media Etiquette Project

Harry Styles dressing in an Indian headdress:

Social Media Etiquette is the guidelines and expected reputation behavior on the online environment. I think the overall importance of social media etiquette is to truly be yourself and do not do anything to others you would not want happening to yourself.

How could the problem have been avoided?
This problem could have been avoided by simply thinking about the intention behind the post and if it would offend anyone.

What could you do to rectify the situation after it happened?
I think a simple apology is the only thing you can do in these situations and clarify that it was not the intention of the post.

What else could the person have done differently?
Harry, in this case, could have done something differently by apologizing or using his platform to help stop these situations by learning from his mistake.

What would you do if you or a friend found yourselves in that position?
If me or my friend was in this position, I believe I would apologize immediately and explain my intentions. I would also try to create awareness from my mistake and remind people to think about what they post before doing it. If my friend did this, I would quickly and calmly inform them of the situation and help them solve the issue.

What I've Learned So Far

Looking back, I have learned so much this semester about technology and myself. I have learned about connect learning communities which help us learn a common language through teamwork and person learning communities where we can network while we work on self-growth and confidence. Personal networking is so important to keep your online presence professional and maintain a respectful environment. Part of networking and collaborative culture is to establish trust. This trust allows us to accept criticism and receive it to grow in your environment for the better. I will use each of these tools as I move into the Business Management field. I enjoyed watching other classmates smack-downs because half of them I never heard of before and can now use for my own personal benefit. I found myself continuously learning new apps and websites that can benefit my school and future life. My favorite thing about this class was relating the chapters to my future life and writing about it on my blog. I definitely enjoyed this class and learned so much about myself as I completed the assignments.

Good/Bad Website Smackdown

My two websites for this smackdown are Ron Jon Surf Shop and Rip Curl.

The bad website is Ron Jon Surf Shop. This website is not good because is has too many links but they are small and I feel as if I am searching through this website. I personal preference I have, which I feel is mutual to most people, is actual models for the clothes and accessories. This makes the product more appealing and allows the customer to see the product in comparison to the lengths and figures of a person. All the items of the website for sale are very small to the eye and not proportionate to the screen. The words on the screen are also small. The website does not take up the entire screen and is not appealing.

The good website is Rip Curl. This website is very appealing and the everything on the screen is accessible and organized. My favorite thing about online shopping websites is the quick shop feature to easily go through the pages. This quick shop and the personal preference feature allows the customer to shop faster and more efficiently. Each item is displayed great and you can see each item on a person to see how it fits. This website uses the whole screen well and has each item big enough for the viewer to see. Overall this website has more color and life to it which entices buyers.

Social Media Tools

These three social media tools caught my eye because I immediately thought of how I would use them if I had my own business.

1st Social Media Tool: AdHawk

This tool allows you to manage your ads on Facebook and Google. This can be pocket sized through a mobile app dashboard, customizable web dashboard, and also weekly PDF email reports. This allows regular monitoring and real-time analysis which also allows your client base to grow and less work. This caught my eye because if I were to have a business I want a reliable and managable way to keep up with my advertising.

2nd Social Media Tool: Decooda

Decooda leverages cognitive psychology and deep learning to analyze customer interactions. This tool analyzes text of customers to detect sentiment, emotions, and cognitive states. This allows business owners to understand how customers think, feel, and act about a product or their experience. This reveals how those thoughts and feelings translate into behavior. This caught my eye because as a business owner it is extremely important to understand your customers and how to grow for their needs and wants. I chose this because I feel this is the most important part of the purchasing process.

3rd Social Media Tool: PublishThis

This tool is said to have 250 percent higher revenue, 5 times time savings, 3 times social reach, and 200 percent more clicks. This helps businesses produce good content more often in all aspects of their business such as email, social, and the web. I think this will help a businesses digital profiling. I seems to be very involved and allows you to clearly monitor social tools.
